Tributes

My friendship with Zulema Dene began over 20 years ago when we were both Looking after the actress, Sheila Keith. It was a friendship I valued greatly. I introduced her to AWL which she really loved coming to, till her health took a turn for the worse. Zu was a highly successful actress across the media in theatre, West End productions, television and, in later years, she carved out a successful career in voice overs and her love of poetry led to many poetry recitals. But above all Zu was an amazing woman, so full of love and compassion for her fellow human beings. She had that knack of making people feel good about themselves. At the end of her life, when she knew she was dying, she reassured all of us who loved her, that she was ready to go. “I’ve had a wonderful life, time for me to move on.” I miss her so much but feel privileged to have been her friend.
