Muriel Marshall R.I.P.
Peter Hinton of the Royal Variety Charity wrote as follows on 20th October 2020:
“I regret to inform you that your AWL honorary member and past committee member (2003-4) Muriel Marshall passed away this afternoon at home here, at Brinsworth House in Twickenham. Please do pass this on to anyone who may have known her or worked with her. She was a brilliant woman and will be sorely missed by all of us here at the Charity.”

I got to know Muriel when visiting my mother at Brinsworth House, The Royal Variety home. Of course we had AWL in common but our friendship grew over 6 years. You could tell her anything, she was a great source of comfort to me after my mother died and also when I lost Coeks. Shel was an amazing woman with a wonderful sense of humour, highly intelligent, and a great raconteur. I remember her coming for dinner at my daughter’s house and she had us all in stitches. Despite her body letting her down and finally going blind her brain remained sharp to the end. I miss her so much, she was a very special lady.
Muriel was a feisty, quick-witted Scottish lady with a wicked sense of humour, a sharp mind and a roguish twinkle in her eye. She was full of enthusiasm for the theatre and for life. A real trooper. God bless her.
I loved seeing Muriel at any gathering, she always put me at my ease. A diminutive Scottish woman with soft brown, twinkly eyes. In fact it would have been easy to underestimate Muriel - she had a wicked sense of humour and was nobody’s fool. I confided some heartfelt feelings to Muriel and just knew she would be, and was, the soul of discretion.
