For more than twenty years Kevin Mandry was a freelance script and speechwriter in the cutthroat world of corporate communication, and indeed to this day people speak in hushed whispers of his series (!) of instructional videos for the Lexler Modulax Differential Roll-Cooling Valve Nozzle - parts 1 to 4.
Nevertheless throughout many years of meetings with Men In Suits discussing fish-product marketing strategies he somehow kept a toehold in the world of drama, with commissions and productions from the Tricycle Theatre, Churchill Theatre, Orange Tree, Young Exchange Manchester, Bristol Old Vic Studio and Birds Nest Theatre. He also wrote for radio, from comedy (three years on BBC R4’s Weekending) to drama (The Silence Of Stars R4).
His stage play Flowers of the Field was premiered to acclaim at The White Bear in 2014 and is due to be revived in 2018.
Kevin lives in Richmond, follows Middlesex County Cricket when it’s not too cold, collects British neo-Romantic art, and follows a strict writing routine firmly based on staring out of the window.
Flowers of the Field
A dark romance that explores the cultural and political impulses behind the movement to rediscover England’s lost folk music, at a time of war and growing industrialisation. June/July 2014 at The White Bear, directed by David Cottis.
