Gerard is an ever-darkening comedy set in an expatriate household in a fishing-village in South-East Asia: rattan furniture, local ornaments, wall-hangings and a ceiling-fan. Downstage are sofas and tables; upstage are a Buddha and fish-tank. Is this paradise or purgatory?
