BRIAN MARSHALL

Writer/Director

Brian Marshall was the third generation of a theatrical family: his grandparents were music hall entertainers, his father a writer for stage and TV and his mother a singer. His first career was as a musician and songwriter

After nearly twenty years of touring and recording he contracted arthritis and was forced to give up playing professionally.

Writing had always been a pastime for Brian. Thinking this might be a suitable second career he signed up as a mature student to study for a degree course in Literature and Drama. It was there that he wrote Blah, Blah, Blah, a play with songs. On an MA drama exchange programme to the University of Northern Illinois, USA Blah played at Theater Corner in Chicago. It then went on to win an award in the National Drama Awards Festival and was published by Samuel French in 1998. He had several stage plays produced and written for television and short film, and worked for Carlton TVs daytime drama Crossroads.
